【Macintosh】Intel+Macについて少し考えてみた。
昨日、Mac mini購入宣言した訳ですが、もう少し考えてみようと言うことに。
ニュースサイトやブログ、mixiで僕なりで理解できる範囲で調べてみました。
間違いとか、噂レベルもありますがご了承を。
まず、IntelプロセッサでのMac OSXは基調講演で走ることが実証済み。しかし、OSXはネイティブであったとしてもPhotoShopCS2等のアプリケーションにはエミュレーター「Rosetta」が必要。そしてAppleInsiderによると基調講演で使用されていたMacは3.6GHzのPentium 4プロセッサが4つ搭載されていて、しかも「Rosetta」のデモではデュアルプロセッサ搭載のPower Mac G5の80%程度のパフォーマンスだったらしい。
まぁOSはそのままで、Intel Macにアプリケーション等もろもろ移行できるようですね。しかもUniversal Binaryでアプリケーションが出続けてくれれば、現行のPowerPCもそのまま使い続けていられると。しかし、G5とのパフォーマンスの違いを見るとヤバそうです。消費電力や発熱の問題でPowerBookG5が出せない、G5/3GHzも作れないそんなこんなでIntelプロセッサを選択したと基調講演を観たとき僕は思っていたのですが、Intel Macの現時点でのパフォーマンスを観ると2006年発表予定のIntelプロセッサ搭載PowerBook、iBook、Mac mini等はどうなんでしょう？プロセッサは何を使うのかわかりませんが、今のPowerBookG4と同レベル程度のマシンしか出来ないような気がするのですが…。それこそ、IntelもPowerBook用のカスタムプロセッサを既に開発されていてMacOSX10.5として出る予定の「Leopard」がIntelCPUに最適化されているのであれば、話は別になると思いますが。でもそうすると、PowerPCでは「Leopard」遅くなるんだろうなぁ…。
とりあえず、いまでも買い換えの選択肢としてMac miniは消えません。Intel Macへの完全移行まであと2年ということでPowerMacG5の選択肢は完全に消えましたが、この2年をどう乗り切るか。今の自宅Macではさすがにあと2年は持たない。いや、むしろ1年もつらい。はやりちょっとしたアップグレードとして、Mac miniと言う感じか…。そして、Intel Mac安定期にハイエンドIntel Mac導入…したいなぁ…。

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

What you said made a lot of sense. But, think about this, what if you added a little content? I mean, I dont want to tell you how to run your blog, but what if you added something to maybe get peoples attention? Just like a video or a picture or two to get people excited about what youve got to say. In my opinion, it would make your blog come to life a little bit.
